What Will Happen During Your Appointment
Part One: Assessment
-
Previous and/ or current medical issues
-
Body Condition Score (BCS)
During the Static Assessment, the animal will be assessed as they are standing square. This involves noting any asymmetry, signs of ill fitting equipment, uneven weight distribution and conformation.
During the dynamic assessment, the gaits of the animal will be evaluated to look for any signs of weakness, asymmetry or lameness. It will include a walk up, trot up, backing up, circles and possibly lunging or riding depending on the situation.

Overall health
A Palpation assessment is where I feel through the animal's muscles, bony landmarks, joints and other soft tissues. Through palpation an idea of muscle health, size and tensity can be gathered. It is also an opportunity to look for a pain response, heat and inflammation.
Palpation Assessment
Part Two: Treatment
In Session Treatment
During your session, I will use mainly manual therapies (massage, stretching and fascia release) combined with some electronic therapies (LASER and TENS) in order to treat any soft tissue problems discovered during the assessment.
This will take approximately 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on the case.
Home Management
After treatment, you will be given a treatment plan and home management advice to help maximise the efficiency of treatment. The treatment plan will include exercises, stretches and massages that you can do with your animal. Management advice will also be available if necessary, including advice on bedding/ flooring, raised food or water, turnout (for horses) and tack/ equipment advice to further compliment your animals treatment
Both Assessments and Treatment Plans will be e-mailed to you within the week
Please Note: If your animal is presenting as severely lame or unwell and the vet is unaware, I will be unable to perform any treatment., however, you will not be charged.
